Microsoft can work on a cheap slim version Xbox One

Microsoft may be in the early stages of creating a cheaper, smaller version of Xbox One, which follows from the posting on LinkedIn publication. According to the portal Beyond3D, publication belongs to Daniel McConnell - Senior Manager AMD, chip manufacturers for next-generation consoles.

Key moments in the publication of two. The first reads: "Successfully planned and designed the first APU for game console Microsoft XBOX One on 28-nanometer technology and cheaper option on the 20-nanometer technology." Second, "to collect and prepare two teams for two consecutive changes XBOX APU, including the transfer of key technical staff to senior positions, allowing the task successfully and expand the team to handle a larger number of SOC [SoC]."

This suggests that Microsoft may be planning the release of a cheap slim version Xbox One. Why? Cause and Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 were developed based on the chips created by the 28-nanometer technology. Miniaturization of the manufacturing process to 20 nanometers would allow Microsoft to introduce a smaller version of the console, which would be reflected in the use of less expensive cooling systems. 20-nanometer technology will also reduce production costs - as a result, a new Xbox One can cost significantly cheaper.

Digital Foundry notes that it may take a long time before we see the new device. Production lines to create a 20-nanometer processors of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company is currently engaged in the implementation of orders for new iPhone, iPad, as well as a new line of graphics processors for AMD and Nvidia.
